Tests to enlarge the gap rather than to diminish it

Famous war horse author Michael Morpurgo raised awareness for the fact that too many tests and assessments in school would in fact make the gap between passing and failing kids even bigger rather than just showing their momentous academic skills. Although these tests are designed to identify lower achieving children in order to give them the extra support needed, he is convinced that testing pupils too often will only destroy their self-esteem and their willingness to learn.

Teachers at Thy English Academy full-heartedly agree with this statement and want to highlight that especially the pleasure in studying needs to be upheld. There is only one assessment per child before he/she enters the academy to give the teachers an idea of their current level and afterwards, we fully focus on boosting the pupils individual strengths.
