English & Maths
Thy English Academy is dedicated to teaching fluency in learning for children requiring extra support for entrance examinations from ages 4 to 16. Our core principle is to help every child with their individual strengths and weaknesses, by composing a plan focused on their specific skills. We ensure all our students get the most out of classes by embracing creative and personalised teaching methods delivered by highly qualified and thoughtfully selected teachers.
Thy English Academy takes great care of incorporating books and traditional resources in all lessons with a dedicated team full of knowledgeable teachers. We rely only on material that help engage the student actively in the lesson and help them to make the teaching experience a pleasing one. It is important for our teachers to show our pupils the right path and continue exploring new information independently. By applying this philosophy students experience progress consciously and feel higher satisfaction in accumulating knowledge.
Our comforting and safe classroom environment provides a natural learning area for the children where they can concentrate on developing their full potential. Thy English Academy teachers and tutors are mindful in applying the curriculum elements of speaking, listening, reading and writing within each program and teach children how learn these valuable key skills passionately.
Students do not learn electronically at the Academy, nor by repetitive practise papers alone. We adopt real classical teaching methods and practical opportunities. Our support and quality of education standards are high to ensure we exceed the needs of struggling and unprepared students for the comprehension, creative writing and verbal components of the 11+ entrance examinations with awareness about the lack of time dedicated to this in most primary schools. By focusing on techniques for answering these questions and practising relevant formats, our students rapidly become outstanding speakers and gain the necessary confidence to succeed in the real examinations as well as prospective interviews.
Mathematics has developed over centuries, producing solutions to universal problems. It is a creative and liberating subject that enables us to tackle daily calculations and measures. Mental fluency, application of methods and consistent rehearsal are the foundational skills practised at The Maths School.
Pupils are encouraged to challenge obstacles in their learning process by understanding the principles required to create solutions. The idea of using logical reasoning produces versatility in this programme of study.
The Maths School work with young minds and are committed to bringing out the best in every child. Our teachers help pupils familiarise the mathematical language and numbers to strengthen their confidence in everyday life.
For many pupils, Maths is daunting and frustrating purely because children find it challenging to grasp a creative relationship with the language and the concept of seeing maths as a solution to problems. Maths simply requires various practise and we offer an abundance of resources and support to ease familiarisation. Our teachers use classical methods to help pupils build the foundational skills to approach abstract information and teach them principally how to navigate through them.
Whether the objective is to support a pupils homework, 11+ or GCSE success, our bespoke resources provide essential learning material for the relevant fields. Once pupils understand maths language and examples, it becomes very simple as it is essentially following strict ordinate rules and this is what makes maths so enjoyable. Confidence comes from knowing, that at least with Maths, there is only one right answer! Our aim is to explain the rules of how to find the solution, step by step, so pupils learn that maths is indeed fun.
Practice Makes Perfect
Grades are undoubtedly important. We use Maths practise papers and bespoke workbooks from the 7+ to GCSE range (available in the Shop) which guide the exam syllabus with helpful methods and questions. We prioritise personal development that comes with learning maths by using multiple testing and monitoring strategies which combine the efforts in class and at home to produce positive results in school and examinations.
Learning to apply the right concepts in the right task helps pupils develop their critical thinking as well as their skills in judgement and perception. Repetition of questions helps to fortify their existing knowledge in establishing a sense of strong will and determination to succeed. Writing structured notes when working out answers promotes discipline and exponentially increases their level of concentration.
The little things contribute towards the bigger picture; we adopt this value to the process of learning rather than the outcome. We believe good education requires love and attention to fine detail, which we aim to give to all pupils who come to study with us at the Academy.
