Art improves Mental Health

The Springfield university in Tooting, London has changed its interior design. With the help of Morris Markowe League of Friends charity they put together a workshop were patients were invited to create art pieces with famous artists like Tim Shaw and Niamh White. The two curators have close connections to people with mental health issues and hence it is a personal matter for them to improve the environment in the hospital. They strongly believe that a positive and inspiring surrounding can have an extraordinary impact for the patient’s health to improve. It was especially important that the patients themselves were able to contribute to the renovation. By working on a pice of art themselves and creating something astonishing which they can see everyday they felt more home and comfortable in their hospital rooms.
