Theatre – Not worth studying?!

The house of lords is currently working on a case study investigating connections between the build up of the education system and the theatre industry. Slowly it is becoming clear, they say, that the skills required for a job in this area are not learnt at school. Hence, starting of in this field becomes incredibly hard for students. This was triggering the lords to overthink the current system and integrate theatre more into the lessons. Furthermore, it is getting harder and harder for the theatre industry to remain profitable since local funding was cut back. Although the lord agree that this part of the arts is an important part in the cultural landscape of the UK, the numbers of visitors are declining.  Nevertheless, the creative industry contributes 87.4 Billion pounds to the British economy.
