Last week, head teachers of 12 schools in the borough of Redbridge got together to discuss their current crisis. Cuts in the education system in the last 3 years have put the schools in a horrific situation. However, in the next 3 year even more cuts are planned. Hence, headteachers got together to brainstorm possible measures so that students are not directly affected by the lack of funding. Nevertheless, this is becoming more and more difficult. One of the things many schools have been doing, is to inform parents about the situation to create more awareness for the issue. To illustrate the seriousness of the situation, one of the headmasters stated that one of his school’s toilets has been blocked for more than a year but that they are missing the money to hire a company to solve the issue. In the next 3 years, the funding are expected to fall by 8 million Pounds per pupil a year.
