The new GCSE Grading system

Since this year’s GCSE is marked differently from the years before, universities also had to adapt to the new system. Up to now, most universities were looking for candidates with at least a C in Maths or English. Now, that the grading system is numerical from 1 to 9, there has been confusion amongst students, whether the bench mark is set at 4 or 5. Universities have now released official statements announcing their standards. While UCL is looking for students with at least 5, Manchester university is also accepting pupils with grade 4. Which other difficulties the new students holds, is yet to be discovered.
