Girls miss school due to a lack of sanitary products

A study published in Leeds has revealed that an unknown number of girls in the UK miss school once a month because they are unable to afford sanitary products. Other issues relating poverty to poor education are a lack of sufficient cloths or packed lunches. Hence, students from less wealthy economic backgrounds keep missing lessons because of financial struggles. Tina Leslie, the representative of the charity freedom4girls highlights that there is yet more research to be done on this issue to get exact numbers of children affected in the UK. She urges teachers to let her know if they have noticed signs of poverty amongst their students and to share tipps how they dealt with the issue.
