Prime Minister Theresa May has stated that she would like to reintroduce Grammar schools in order to give every child and parent the chance to choose for themselves which school they would like to attend. This statement run into criticism by the Coventry council who states that changes in the current system would inevitably lead to a backwards development. Kevin Maton, chief of the council, says: “The re-introduction of selective education and grammar schools risks damaging this and further disadvantaging some of our children.”
