After Rushcroft Foundation school was ranked lowest in the borough, the headmaster Mark Morrall is defending the school. The governmental ranking only takes GCSE results into account which have been low due to the school taking in oversea refugees. Hence, Mister Morrall stresses that some of the children joined the school half way through the year and could therefore not have scored as high as their native British classmates. He deems the ranking unfair since circumstances like the ones just mentioned are not taken into account. For example, the positive evaluation of the school by OFSTED was not considered and the negative publicity entailed by such rankings can have a devastating impact on the school’s reputation.
