The social mobility barometer poll conducted by the British government has once more brought to light that students still think that your heritage determines the success you will have in your own life. Despite the efforts public and private organizations take every day to improve equality, it is still harder for students who come from a poorer background to reach the upper social classes. The survey has also shown that students from the north of the UK are more likely to believe in a gap between the rich and the poor than students from the South. These pessimistic life chances young people see are a real issue that we continuously have to attempt to tackle.
