Education is a right to everyone

Sir Lenny Henry, newly announced chancellor of Birmingham City University delivered a touching speech about the accessibility of education to everyone. Birmingham City University has one of the most diverse student body with 45% of its students coming from a low-income household and 48% are black, Asian or any other ethnic minority background. Sir Lenny Henry himself, however, had to fight hard for his right to study and only obtained is BA certificate at the age of 46. Until young adulthood he thought that education was just not meant for him.

At Thy English Academy we are shocked that education is still not available to everyone. Although most people think about a lack of education is mainly found in developing countries like Africa, it is for a fact that the same is still experienced by many children in the UK as well.
