British Primary Teachers on exchange in Shanghai

71 teachers are travelling to Shanghai to obtain training in a new way of delivering Maths at primary school. The new system is supposed to help increase Maths proficiency amongst children below the age of 10. The teachers are going to be listening to a lecture about “immersion” teaching before going into Chinese schools and actually experiencing it in class rooms. The exchange programme has been going on for four years and is funded by the British government.

Learning from other country’s education system’s that are doing better in international rankings is a good for first step to improve Britain’s system. Generally, it is always a good idea to share strengths with people who struggle and work on weaknesses with others who are doing better on these issues. Hence, working together in a group will have advantage for everyone.
